This review has taken a very long time sorry – purchased my first Beauty Joint haul in February, just before we moved. I was impressed with their prices, selection and service, and can’t wait to purchase again!
There seems to be some confusion over whether or not this particular product is discontinued (although Beauty Joint still do have it in stock) – it looks like they may be reformulating it? Anyway, I absolutely loved this colour and it’s my new favourite beauty product (despite having owned it since Feb, it’s not exactly brand new to me). I’ve been seeking a rather different, browny tone, but didn’t really know what I wanted. At $2 US (plus a small amount for shipping), I couldn’t really go wrong, and my gamble paid off.
I especially love it paired with my plaid dress and floral “wannabe-Docs” for a “I think I’m so 90’s grunge but I’m not actually” look. 😉 The only downside, if there really is one, is that the packaging does look cheap, but that doesn’t matter – and the price IS cheap. The lid may be a bit flimsy though, I could definitely see this one falling off and floating round the handbag.
Would I buy again or recommend? : Yes! I never buy the same makeup more than once, so I’m not going to buy a backup, but I would highly recommend it
This is a lipstick I’ve been eyeing up for so long I’m surprised my eyes haven’t fallen out of my head. I really want a dark, vampy red, but can’t seem to find what I’m looking for. In terms of colour, Cherry Bomb nails it, but I’m just not a matte fan, and this is so dry and uncomfortable on me. Since I love the colour, I just layer it up with some gloss and balm. If you love matte, then I would recommend it however.
Would I buy again or recommend? : No, I wouldn’t buy it for myself, but I would recommend to anyone who likes matte (these days it seems like I’m the only person who doesn’t!)
I um’d and ah’d over this one for way too long. At $3.29 USD, it was hardly expensive, but on a very limited budget I wanted to be sure I was getting something I would definitely use and enjoy. Nearly 4 months later, I still can’t decide if I like it or not. OK, I “like” it, but I don’t love it. I’m certainly not “in love” with it! I’m a bit fussy about lip formulas, I hate ‘stains’ or ‘tints’ or any other wishy-washy bullshit that doesn’t know what its meant to be. I didn’t know what to expect from Lip Paint, having not yet been able to try Lip Tar or ‘Too Faced Melted’, etc.
This is kind of an odd product. I like how you can build up the opacity in layers, starting with a sheer tint/stain. It also lends itself quite well to wearing over a similar coloured lipstick. I’ve experimented with applying it with a lip brush but that doesn’t do much to help either for me. It also gets on my teeth badly, but that’s probably just me! It’s a nice colour, I just wish it was thicker and less sheer. I won’t be bothering with any of the others in this range, although I don’t entirely regret my purchase.
Would I buy again or recommend? : No, I would put my money towards something in a thicker, or more traditional lipstick format. I’d recommend if you like those sort of products, but I just found it way too fiddly to use.
“Semi Permanent” : means what? Long-lasting, enduring, “half permanent” if you’re going to be literal about it. None of these terms could be used to accurately describe this eyeliner. For $2.29 USD, it wasn’t exactly expensive, but I still wish I’d chosen a different product. The colour is pretty but nowhere near as vibrant as I hoped for, and the formula was light and a bit watery. Despite mine only being open a few months, I need to shake it well before using (which I have had to do since day 1!). This is a product that would be great for teenagers on a low budget just wanting to dabble in makeup, but for the rest of us, you could easily get a better product. If you see it really cheap, have a go with it (Jordana is available in some dollar stores/Coin Save/etc around NZ), but I wouldn’t spend much on it, atleast not this shade. Perhaps the others are more pigmented and lasting?
Would I buy again or recommend? : No, though I might try a different shade. You could do a lot worse, I just feel there’s probably better out there. I haven’t tried E.L.F’s equivalents, I’d say they are probably better.
I use a lot of indie/pigmented/loose shadows, and wanted to try a few primers to bring out the colour and make them last longer. This does the job, and at only $3 US it won’t break the bank either, and it seems like it would last a long time too.
Would I buy again or recommend? : Yes, both! I don’t know how it compares to expensive primers, but I thought it offered good value for money so would recommend to anyone wanting a low-priced eyeshadow primer.
The whole order was around $13 USD (plus postage) and arrived quickly and well packaged. I will definitely be ordering again!
This post does not contain affiliate links, sponsored content or anything that would otherwise benefit me 😉 I purchased all of these at full price with my own money, and did not receive any special treatment. My choice to recommend BeautyJoint is based on my genuinely positive shopping experience with them (based on February 2015).
